VALUES

EOS Nairobi is an independent, compliant and and accessible community owned BP. We believe in the power of EOSIO technology and that of it’s community in developing tools that have the ability to protect life, liberty and property. We also believe that EOS can only be greater if as a block producer we support the activities of individuals and communities that increase value for EOS and the EOS token holder. Our full BP announcement and plans for the future are outlined in this article: BP ANNOUNCEMENT REPORT

NODE WORK

We continue to support the mainnet as a standby node. We maintain, update and service our nodes and infrastructure to perform at its best for the EOS Network.

ACCESS

We developed EOSIOHUB.IO web portal that gives the EOS community access to the large number of Dapp projects being developed on a daily basis by EOS community members. Our plan is to evolve the EOSIOHUB platform to a resource centre for developers in the EOS ecosystem.

We also partnered with INFINITO WALLET to offer about 2000 free EOS accounts to EOS token holders allowing many more people to benefit from airdrops and engage in the ecosystem. DEVELOPER ECOSYSTEM AND PROJECTS

We have also launched a community in Botswana and supported the amazing and enthusiastic community of EOS Nigeria on their journey in EOS. We plan on launching and supporting more communities in Africa. You can read more about this here: https://medium.com/@eosnairobi/a-star-is-born-eos-botswana-dd0a994b77f2

We have developed EOS developer content in line with our mission to grow the young and developing EOS developer ecosystem in Africa. More developers means more Dapps built on EOS and more value for the community.

We have partnered with various ecosystem players and block producers to further support EOS Dapps and token holders. We have partnered with IFWHENTHEN an organization using EOS unique technology to change the face of education worldwide.

You can read more about this here: https://medium.com/if-when-then-blog/if-when-then-and-carmel-team-up-to-develop-non-formal-education-in-africa-69b08a38f928

Through our developer network, we are supporting the development of EOSwitness.io, a Dapp that enables individuals to build a reputation and proven online profile.

More about EOSwitness here: http://eoswitness.io/

We are also supporting Ditch, a C# library for EOS developers created by the innovative developers from Belarus behind Steepshot (https://steepshot.io/). Ditch is a very valuable library because it opens up the world of C# developers to EOS. This will bring more apps to the widely used windows platform, Xbox and even Unity Games. https://github.com/Chainers/Ditch

We are currently developing the Kotani Wallet and Kotanidex, tools that we believe will give a large number of people in frontier and emerging markets access to the EOS ecosystem. Africa currently has an internet penetration of 35% with countries such as Kenya having 43 million Internet users and Nigeria having 98 million internet users. We believe this is a great opportunity for the people in this emerging market.

Our unique position in Africa enables us to use the EOSIO technology to develop Dapps that can have great impact in communities and in the EOS ecosystem. We have been at the forefront of EOS education in Africa. We have held several meet-ups meant to inform the public on EOS and its potential benefits for society.

EOS Awareness Day at Nairobi Garage.
EOS Education Day at Nailab.

We have also conducted developer trainings on EOSIO at Moringa school, United States International University, Meru University, Kabarak University, Google Developer Conference, DevCraft Conference, Python Conference and Droidcon.

EOS Training at the USIU Innovation Centre
EOS training at Techno Brain with Mr Phil Mesnier of OCI

We thank the EOS community for their overwhelming support. We promise to continue the good work of supporting, developing and creating the most value for the community.

TOOLS ROADMAP

Now that we have the necessary skills in place we have a couple of tools lined up for the community.

-Ditch C# Library for developers

-KotaniDEX

-Kotani Wallet

Education Progress

With growing interest from developer across the continent we started conducting training sessions over online calls to people miles away. The videos allow developers to understand what EOS is and how to interact with the EOSIO software.

This has led to the growth of online coding sessions with developers called EOS Study Groups. (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW3aCsSHK9O6H5Dv64H28GlItCPsLAZOs)

We are also activating EOS campus chapters in Africa that allow the students to learn about the ecosystem and join to contribute to the growth of the community. The universities where we have an active presence include Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Meru University,United States International University and Kabarak University. We plan to continue supporting the communities across the continent to get more universities to EOS.

Community Progress

We have witnessed the growth of our community from a small number of people in the channels to close to 500 on telegram, 1140 on twitter. The community of African developers has also grown significantly to include 150 developers on telegram and 240 on the local whatsapp channel.

With such strong support coming from the community, we plan to keep engaging with other communities and individuals to create opportunities and interactions among them.

We shall keep on with the work of growing the EOS ecosystem and adding value to the global community.
